The College Board Advanced Placement (AP) exams are given at Bishop's during May on the national test dates. Most students who complete an AP course also take the AP exam though it is not a requirement of the School. Because many colleges will grant credit to students who earn high scores on the AP Exams, and because strong scores may aid students in the admission process, it is recommended that students take them. Students who feel that they are prepared may also take an AP exam even when they have not been enrolled in the corresponding course. View AP Exam schedules >

Policies & Procedures
- The day of an AP Exam, students must be at the exam site on time for the exam and in uniform.
- Students should bring into each exam: several sharpened No. 2 pencils with erasers, two blue or black ball point pens, and for the Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, and Statistics exams, a calculator (one without a keyboard or printing tape) with extra batteries.
- Students are not allowed to bring anything else into the exam room, including cell phones, MP3 Players, or watches that beep or make noise. No food or drink except water is allowed into the exam room.
- Students who are approved by the College Board for extended time or other accommodations will receive those accommodations on AP Exams. All extended time exams will be held in a separate location.
- With few exceptions, all exams will be held in La Jolla Lutheran Church which is located at 7111 La Jolla Blvd, across the street from La Jolla Lutheran Church. Students should report directly to La Jolla Lutheran Church a few minutes before the time each exam is scheduled to begin. Students will be informed well in advance of any changes.
- Inquiries should be directed to Jessica Mercado, AP coordinator, 858.875.0876 or email mercadoj@bishops.com.
