A MARRIAGE OF TRADITION and Technology
The Manchester Library and Learning Center integrates 21st century learning and technology into a building that echoes the tradition and historical architecture of The Bishop’s School campus. A place of collaborative education, reflection and silent study, the library’s very location on campus respects the historical Irving Gill designed Gilman Hall and Carleton Monroe Winslow’s Wheeler J. Bailey building.
The Manchester Library and Learning Center will allow students to navigate with ease between print and digital media. The Bishop’s students of the future will collect information from both arenas and through the use of state-of-the-art resources and the guidance of the School’s librarians they will learn what is valuable to their research.
The faculty will benefit also. Whether they are working with students in a classroom or the learning center, collaborating with each other in the faculty lounge or the outdoor loggia, the space and design features of the library will enhance the collegial life of Bishop’s teachers.
The design of the Manchester Library and Learning Center reflects a marriage of technology and tradition, with architecture that complements the School’s existing buildings while incorporating state-of-the-art technology.
The 21,000 square foot, library and learning center includes areas for collaboration as well as quiet study; classrooms; office, conference, and outdoor spaces. Learn how to support the project >
