Financial Aid Program Philosophy
The Bishop’s School seeks to provide students with a strong academic program, comprehensive sports offerings, and opportunities for personal and spiritual growth. The School’s Financial Aid Program is a key element in its quest for excellence. Its purpose is twofold: to enroll students who need financial assistance and who fully meet its admissions criteria, and to bring ethnic, religious, and socio-economic diversity to the student body.

The Financial Aid Program at The Bishop’s School is the most visible and tangible commitment the School makes to the greater San Diego community by offering affordable access to our nationally ranked education for talented students who would otherwise not be able attend. The financial aid program is one way our School fulfills its mission of providing a Bishop's education to a broad range of deserving young people within the San Diego region.
The Board of Trustees at The Bishop's School is committed to sustaining a financial aid program that provides funds for 20 percent of our student body. Over the last 26 years, the financial aid program has grown from 20 students and a budget totaling $90,000 to 160 students and a budget of $2.9 million.
Funds for this important program come from the School's Financial Aid Endowment, the Parents' Association annual fund raising event, and gifts from corporations, foundations and members of the School family. A donor can make a cash donation, a gift of appreciated securities, or name Bishop's as a beneficiary in their estate with a percentage of their assets designated to the financial aid program.
